What's new
Improvements and new features in WaiterSkip, newest first.
Coming at launch
Payments, account recovery and hardening
- Paid plans with Stripe: secure checkout, and a billing portal to change plan, update your card, see invoices or cancel.
- Pay monthly or yearly — yearly saves about 20%. Invoices carry your billing address and, optionally, your VAT number.
- An email a few days before your free trial ends, and when it has ended.
- Plan limits (tables, menu items, staff, restaurants) with a clear message and an upgrade link when you reach one.
- Branding (Pro and Business): pick a ready-made theme or build your own — colours, fonts and corner style — with a live preview, and add your logo, a cover photo and a welcome line. Guests see it on the menu and start page, your team sees it on the restaurant's staff pages (in light and dark mode, with your logo in the header), and the guest's receipt keeps your colours and logo. Style the printed table cards too — colours, a headline, logo and name, round or square — with a preview of exactly how they print.
- A guided start for new restaurants: a walkthrough of the whole app on your first visit (and again from the profile menu any time) that takes you page by page — dashboard, tables, menu, daily menu, staff, opening hours, branding with light and dark mode, translations, reports and billing — with "do it now" shortcuts to create your first table, dish or staff member and pick up where you left off, and a "Get your restaurant ready" checklist that ticks itself as you add your hours, menu, tables, staff and branding and send a test order. In a hurry? Start with a sample menu in one click.
- Every theme now has its own dark mode — Bistro turns espresso and terracotta, Nordic deep blue-grey — with light and dark previews side by side. Choose whether guests follow their phone (with a switch), or always see light or dark, and fine-tune the dark colours of your own theme. Your staff pages use the theme's dark mode too.
- Daily menus, day by day: set the days a menu runs and your own courses (soup, main course, dessert…), then pick a day and add its sets and dishes. A set is a few courses for one price: a fixed soup and main, a choice of dishes, or “Menu 1” and “Menu 2” with different mains. Offer a set or dish on one day or on several (one soup for the whole week), with the same price all week or a price per day. Dishes are served in the sets, can be marked sold out like any other, and a day can be copied to another. Guests see the daily menu first, as its sets: they pick their dishes right on the set's card, and a set with nothing to choose goes into the basket with one tap. Switch a daily menu off while you prepare it, and on for the week it's valid.
- The staff app speaks the same ten languages as the guest pages: dashboard, tables, menu, daily menu, staff, settings, branding, translations, reports, billing, notifications and the walkthrough. Each person picks their own language with the language button in the header (or on the sign-in page); it starts in the browser's language.
- Faster menus on mobile data: photos are resized when uploaded and stored as small WebP files, lists show a thumbnail, and pictures load as guests scroll. Phone photos are turned the right way up and their embedded location is removed. Photos uploaded earlier are converted automatically.
- Removing a dish that has been ordered now keeps it in your past orders and reports.
- The landing page is in the same ten languages, picked from the same list as in the app, and its animations follow it.
- A "Random PIN" button when you add a table or change its PIN.
- Messages and "are you sure?" questions now appear inside the app instead of the browser's pop-ups.
- New staff join by invitation: an admin or manager enters their email, they set up their own username and password through the link (valid for 24 hours), and an admin switches the account on — so nobody can act for the restaurant just because an email reached them. Everyone changes their own details only under My account; admins decide roles and access.
- The same email can be used at different businesses on WaiterSkip, so staff who move to another restaurant can join it too.
- Removing someone, changing their role or switching their account off signs them out at once, open pages included. Staff pages ask you to sign in when needed and bring you back to the page you wanted.
- Guests use the ordering pages in their own language: English, Slovak, Czech, German, Hungarian, Polish, Ukrainian, Italian, French or Spanish (their phone's language, or picked from the menu). On Pro and Business the restaurant's own menu is translated too, automatically when it's saved — dishes, descriptions, choices, categories and the welcome line, keeping names like "Margherita" as they are. Owners can follow the progress and correct any translation on the Translations page.
- Guests can call a waiter from their phone (water, cutlery, help with ordering or something else, with a note). Staff hear a chime and see it in the notifications and on the table, and the guest sees when someone is on the way.
- The basket is kept on the guest's phone, so a reload or reopening the link no longer empties it.
- Dishes can have choices (sizes, sides, extras or how it's cooked), each with its own price, and guests can add a note for the kitchen.
- Daily menus: serve a category only on some days and hours (a lunch menu, Mon–Fri 11:00–14:00) and a dish only on some weekdays, for a menu that changes every day.
- Guests see each item's status live on their order: sent, being prepared, served or canceled.
- When a table asks for the bill, staff hear a chime and get a card in the notifications.
- Staff can take an order for a table themselves (for guests without a phone), or open a table and give the guests its join code.
- Restaurant settings: change the name, address and phone number, and set opening hours: up to three time ranges a day, past midnight if you like. Guests see whether you're open, your address, a tap-to-call number and the week's hours on the table's start page. Optionally, new tables can only start ordering while you're open (guests already seated keep ordering).
- Reports for each restaurant (Pro and Business), in the profile menu: revenue, orders, average order and items sold; revenue per day; when orders come in, by weekday and hour; best sellers and sales per category; and dishes nobody ordered. Business adds profit and margin per dish (enter what a dish costs you to make), comparison with the previous period, results per table and time at the table, cancellations and unpaid bills, any dates, and CSV export.
- Photo uploads say right away when a file is too large (over 5 MB) or not an image, before anything is saved.
- Menu items can have a description and the 14 EU allergens, shown to guests with a key.
- Owners can close their account themselves; the data is deleted 30 days later.
- Forgot your password? Reset it by email. New accounts confirm their email address.
- Sign-in accepts your email or username in any capitalisation.
- Guests can open their order and basket from a shared link on any phone.
- Steadier live updates for guests: one connection per table session that reconnects cleanly.
- Security: stricter separation between restaurants, rate limits and lockouts on sign-in, table PINs and join codes, and deactivated staff are signed out immediately. Every page now has a strict Content-Security-Policy (it only runs its own scripts and can't be shown inside another site), changing your email or username asks for your password, a changed role takes effect at once, and staff who were deactivated, demoted or signed out stop receiving live updates within a minute.
